In short
We collect what the app needs to work, we don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. You choose who sees your activity, and you can delete your account at any time.
What we collect
- Account: your email, phone number (one per account), name, handle, profile picture and anything you add to your profile.
- ID check: a government ID and a selfie, processed by our ID verification provider to confirm you’re a real, unique person over 18. We keep the result (verified or not) and a scrambled fingerprint of the document and person (to stop duplicate accounts), not the images.
- What you do: the calls you post, commitments, confirmations, comments, reposts, saves, stories and follows.
- Messages: end-to-end encrypted on your device. We store them encrypted and can’t read them.
- Photos and videos you add. A photo or video used to confirm you followed through is checked and then deleted, unless you choose to show it on your confirmation.
- Location: only when you confirm you did something, and only if you allow it. It’s compared with the call’s place and then forgotten; we keep only whether you were there.
- Contacts: only if you use Find friends. Phone numbers are scrambled (hashed) on your device before being compared; we don’t keep your contacts.
- Payments: our payment provider handles your card or account details; we keep a reference to them and the amounts.
- Device and usage: a random device ID and which sign-up steps were reached, push notification tokens, and basic technical logs needed to run and protect the service.
How we use it
To run the app (accounts, calls, commitments, messages, notifications and emails you choose), to keep it to real people and protect it from abuse and fraud, to process payments, to moderate reports, and to improve it. We don’t use your data for advertising.
Who sees what
For each list (your calls, commitments, follow-through, reposts, saves, followers…) you choose: everyone, your followers, or only you (Settings → Privacy). Some things are always visible to keep calls honest: for example, commitment totals include you.
Moderators can see what’s needed to review reports.
Service providers
We use trusted providers who process data only to provide their service to us: hosting and database, email and text message delivery, ID verification, payments, push notifications (Apple and Google) and our web infrastructure. They’re bound by contracts to protect it.
We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account, what’s yours is deleted, except what we must keep by law (for example payment records) or to prevent abuse (the scrambled ID fingerprint, so someone who was banned can’t simply sign up again).
Your choices and rights
You can see and edit your profile, choose who sees your activity, turn notifications and emails on or off, and delete your account in Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data or object to some uses. Write to us and we’ll help.
Age
Tippin’ Point is only for people 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if we learn of it, we delete the account.
Security
Logins need a code sent to your email (and, if you turn it on, two-step verification). Messages are end-to-end encrypted. Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to what each part of the service needs.
Changes and contact
We’ll tell you in the app before important changes. Questions or requests: privacy@tippinpoint.org.
